How the Briefing Works

Reader questions

Sources, labels and corrections

The questions readers ask most often, answered plainly.

Is the briefing investment advice?

No. The briefing is general information and does not consider your personal circumstances. Nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy or sell any security, and you should take professional advice before making financial decisions.

How do you separate fact from analysis?

Every item carries a label. "Fact" covers figures, filings and scheduled events with a named source. "Analysis" covers our interpretation of what those facts may mean for a sector.

Where does your information come from?

Primary sources first: statistics agencies such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the ONS, central banks, SEC and FCA filings, and company results. Then attributed reporting and industry surveys.

How are the industry desks divided?

Four desks: Markets, Retail and Consumer, Energy and Industry and Tech and Startups. Company news is sorted using the GICS sector framework.

How do I report an error?

Use the contact tool and choose "Correction", or email [email protected]. Corrections are reviewed first each working day, and changes are noted at the foot of the item.

Are you paid by the companies you cover?

No. Bexumiroundupp is independent and not affiliated with any company, exchange or regulator mentioned. We do not accept payment for coverage.

When is the briefing updated?

Desk notes are prepared on working-day mornings, UK time, and updated if a scheduled release changes the picture during the day.

Do you use anonymous sources?

Rarely. When a report relies on unnamed sources we say so, explain why we consider it credible, and weigh it below on-the-record information.

Can I republish your notes?

Short quotations with a link back are welcome. For anything longer, see our Terms or write to the desk.

Still have a question?

If your question is not here, the editors are happy to answer. Messages about errors are always handled first.
